A Field Trip for Discerning Moms
I”ve always been fascinated by field trips and discovering how things works. When Unilab invited us to visit their plant. I readily cleared my schedule and happily joined the trip. They invited some moms and a dad to show us that they are in the business of not only health but wellness as well. There were two pickup points for the mommy and daddy bloggers: one in Merville, two in Ortigas and three in Makati.
Unilab a leading pharmaceutical company in the Philippines, A company that is proud of everything they stand for: delivering the best value in health care for every Filipino family’s full enjoyment of life.
Unilab has a an advocacy aptly called as The Discerning Mommy advocacy which is the digital component of Unilab’s corporate branding program “Unilab ba‘Yan?”that aims to encourage consumers to ask the most important questions in healthcare to guide them in making quality choices.
A few of the questions that were emphasized in this campaign are: “Safe ba‘yan?, “Subok ba‘yan?”, “Sinuri ba ngtama ‘yan?”, “World-class ba‘yan?”
Instead of capitalizing on its credentials in its campaign, Unilab takes the advocacy route to focus on the basic yet essential healthcare questions. Unilab wants to make sure consumers get not only value for their money, but also quality they deserve.
We were greeted by this cute banner.
At Amherst, while waiting for the others they ushered us into the board room where they also prepared a sumptuous breakfast for us. When everyone was there . They gave us a short briefing of what we can expect to see inside Amherst, what to do and what not to do.
The purpose of the plant tour was to show the mommies present the quality and care that goes into making each UNILAB product.
With all the health risks we’re facing, it is really important to make sure that our families choose quality health choices.
Before we started the plant tour, all of us were made to wear hair caps, shoe covers, and scrub suits.
We had to wash our hands well to avoid contamination.
After washing our hands we had to make sure that our hands were dry.
For the Amherst Plant Tour this was our agenda:
- Quality and Assurance Area
- Solids Plant
- Warehouse for raw materials and packaging
- Liquids plant
We were ushered into the quality assurance area. We have also seen the Solids Plant and Warehouse for raw materials and packaging. From what I have seen Unilab is extra-conscious with quality assurance in every part of their manufacturing chain.
This consciousness must border on obsession to make sure that everything, up to the tiniest detail in the manufacturing procedure, complies with universal standard requirements.
We also visited the Liquids Plant where products like Ceelin, Biogesic for Kids and famous liquid products were developed. I am so thankful to Unilab for inviting me and it is assuring to know that the medicine that I give to my kids is safe and will help them to get well.

Wow looks like an exciting field trip
Great to be here Leirs!
