1. Avoid Participating in Family Gossip

No matter how innocent it might seem to you, try to avoid in participating in family gossip. You will be amazed at how quickly a small piece of gossip can spread. If you really stop and think about it, no-one likes to be the center of conversation. If you wouldn’t say something to a family member in person, don’t say it period. You never know who might not realize it’s a secret and end up innocently repeating it.

2. Just Accept Some People Can’t Live Without Drama

In many families, there is always one person that just can’t seem to live without the drama. This is the person that tries to get everyone else around them mad. They will purposely find something to get an argument stirred up. For example, a parent might point out to the other parent something minor the child did just to get the kid in trouble. Why? The drama queen or king can’t stand for there to be peace in the household.

You then will get drawn into the family drama without even trying.

Make certain that you allow a time to cool off. When things snowball into family drama, take the time to let everyone cool off. Allowing a cooling off time will make things less dramatic. They will calm down. Things will be much easier for everyone.
5. Try to See Where the Other Person is Coming From

Some family drama can be avoided if you try to see where the other person is coming from. They might be offering advice because they really care. They might be complicating simple things because they’re trying to be helpful. Or perhaps they’re sensitive because of situations in their life. Just try to remember where the other person is coming from. This will help keep a perspective on things and reduce the amount of potential family drama that might otherwise happen in your life.
