Brigada Eskewela 2011

The Department of Education (DepEd)  conducted  this year’s Brigada Eskwela known also as the National Schools Maintenance Week on May 23-28, 2011. On May 23, the Central Office and field offices held a caravan to launch the first day of Brigada Eskwela. Brigada Eskwela is a school maintenance program that engages all education stakeholders to contribute their time, effort and resources in ensuring that public school facilities are set in time for the forthcoming school opening.
I woke up very early just to be able to join and do my part as a parent. Never mind that I had to reschedule early morning tasks and reset a meeting with the printers  for the brochure printing specifications of the client. This DepEd-wide activity begun at 6:00 a.m. with the route of the caravan which started at the Central Office .The final stop of the caravan which in a a public school where an official kick-off ceremony will be held. Our was in Quezon City near SM NorthThis is really leading by example the Mayor was there before 7AM
Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts were also  to volunteer
The Spirit of Volunteerism was really alive.. From all walks of life everyone came to help
Even the Young and Young at Heart came to join in solidarity

Yearly conducted, the Brigada Eskwela, aims to ensure that all public school facilities are set in time for the forthcoming school opening this June.
